In the 1880s, football came from England and quickly became a favorite for Norwegians. The first football club in Norway: Christiania Footballclub was founded in 1885. In the following years, many football clubs were also established. In 1902, the Norwegian National Football Association was established. A few years later, the Norwegian FA Cup began. In 1908, their national team was established because of the invitation of the Swedish Football Association.
On June 16, 1918, Norway defeated Denmark 3-1 in Oslo. It was the first home game of the national team to win the first international game
